David Cage and the talented team that makes up Quantic Dream, has released a tech demo of their new game engine and motion capture techniques. The short, titled KARA, is not tied to any game in production, but acts as a tech showcase for the improvements that Quantic Dream has made since their last venture in game/cinema convergence: Heavy Rain.

More Surprises From Canon?

Canon has announced a special screening event, set to occur next month during Las Vegas’s NAB event. Since Canon just came out with a big product release (the Canon 5D Mk III) one would have to conclude that the next logical step would be to continue on with the Cinema EOS line of cameras. I guess we’ll find out on April 15th.

Apple Releases the iPad 3

This week Apple launched the next iteration of it’s successful tablet device: the iPad 3. Apple’s new flagship device touts a high resolution (2048 x 1536) retina display, 4G LTE, a new A5X processor, and a 5MP iSight camera, capable of 1080p video recording.

Valve’s “Steam Box” the future of the gaming industry?

According to a report from The Verge, Valve has been venturing into hardware production, towards the next generation of consoles with their “Steam Box”. In an interview earlier last month, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell said in regards to the next generation of consoles “if we have to sell hardware we will”. The so-called “Steam Box” will likely act as a big contender against companies like Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo, who currently rule the console gaming market. With reports of an open console design, modular game controllers, and the highly successful adoption of their online Steam store, Valve might have a fighting chance.
